Create and manage promos and discounts
Use promo codes for customer-entered offers and automatic discounts for rules that should apply at checkout without a code.
Where this lives
Open Promos & Discounts to create discount rules, review redemptions, and control whether each offer is active or disabled.
Choose the right discount type
- Use a promo code when the customer should enter a code at checkout, such as SUMMER20 or VIP25.
- Use an automatic discount when the offer should apply by itself, such as 20% off orders placed on a certain day.
- Choose percent off for flexible basket sizes, or fixed amount off when the offer should always remove the same dollar amount.
Set the rule carefully
- Give automatic discounts a clear checkout label so customers and staff understand why the price changed.
- For automatic discounts, choose whether the date rule checks the order date or the rental date.
- Add a single date or date range, and turn on yearly repeat only for offers that should come back every year.
- Use minimum order amounts, usage limits, and per-customer limits when the discount should not be open-ended.
- Decide whether an automatic discount can combine with a promo code. If it cannot, checkout uses the better discount.
Understand priority
Priority is only a tie-breaker for automatic discounts. If two automatic discounts match and both produce the same savings, the higher priority discount wins. If one discount saves more money, the better discount wins no matter what priority says.
Before you publish
- Test the offer with the same kind of order a customer will place.
- Check both the storefront order summary and the final booking total.
- Disable expired or one-time offers when the campaign is over.
